Seasons greetings Blessed holidays
12/23/1999
Lots of light displays are up this year! I don't remember a year when I have seen so many lights. Icicle lights became popular in 1998, and this year there are way more of these than before.
1998 marked the first year of the drive-through display at Marymoor park. They are there this year too. Somewhere there are $2-off coupons.
My favorite, large-scale, "local" displays in 1998 were at Enchanted Village (Wild Waves, in Federal Way) and Olympic Manor (in the Blue Ridge area of Seattle, entrance is on NW 85th Street and a few blocks West of 15th NW). You may find these at the 1998 links below. If you go to the Enchanted Village display, dress warmly! (It's a walk-through-only display; you could just drive by the park, but walking is much more fun. Discount coupons for this may be found at Papa Murphy's locations.)
Anyway, in 1998 I decided that others might appreciate having lists of addresses to light displays, and that's what this document is about. Below you will find lots of links to Seattle Times and Eastside Journal articles that list displays and their addresses.
Past years' lists may be useful because many of the displays that were up in previous years may be up this year as well.
Some of the links list addresses of displays at people's houses, while others list addresses of commercial light displays.
And some links are something other than lists of light displays (but somewhat related to holiday fun and/or edification).
REVIEWS 1998: In addition to this list of article links, in 1998 I made a private list of lights addresses. After seeing the lights that year I wrote a few short reviews about them. You can read those reviews at http://sadsongs.org/shared/ChristmasLights1998various.htm.
REVIEWS 1999: This year I haven't taken much time to visit lights, but in short -
Getting out and seeing the lights can be fun! They can also be a reminder and an encouragement, for YHWH is Light!
This may (or may not) be my last update before Christmas.Have a great holiday and Y2K New Years! (Are you ready?)

I searched through the Seattle Times for links to lights. I went to their Search Archives page, and entered the following (without using quote (") marks around any of the phrases):

Seattle Times: 26 records on 12/23 at 7:17pm. Worked well as a beginning search phrase.
Eastside Journal: Not searched.- Christmas lights
Seattle Times: 245 records on 12/23 at 7:18pm. Lots of unrelated hits.
